a painting often radiates throughout the whole space in which it hangs, changing it energetically in a palpable way.

in a painting i experience my mission as an artist therefore as most complex. most paintings originate slowly, with many transparant or semi-transparant layers.

the paint skin, the brushwork, the movement, the colours, the paint layers, the expression of faces, postures, nature ... on many different levels the painting has to `work'.

when a painting offers entrances to our deeper layers, again and again, then only it is a real painting to me. no wonder that painting for me is still a quest, with few known parameters. still the last years i'm happy to be able to paint from these deeper layers, without too much preconceived judgments.

one could call this a sort of `stream of semi-consciousness'. paintings-to-be will typically stand in my studio for years, while i work on them intermittently.

(see also my philosophy page)

on these pages you find a very limited representation of a number of paintings. tft-monitors especially give terrible colour and lighting deviations. but also the much too small format and the lack of adequate detail pay little respect to reality. if you would like to see the real work, please contact me.
